When it comes to losing weight, everyone seems to have an answer to solve that problem, but they never seem to be asking the right kind of question. Why is my weight loss not happening? What am I doing wrong? I'm putting in the effort and I'm not seeing the results.

Leslie,
Consider yourself lucky and rare if you don't have a craving for sugar. So many people do and it is very difficult to lose weight if you are eating too many carbs made of sugars and processed foods. I love tea also and am finally drinking more water. I have had a tough time my whole life drinking enough water.

Oh wow, that's a big conspirarcy I never knew about losing weight. That would explain some of my friends are having a difficult time losing the weight. If they do they gain it all back easily. I never really drink much soda or syrup juice but mostly tea and water. I don't have a craving for sugar. All my friend who want to lose weight love carbs and process drink.

Darrin,
When you look at most people's diets and see what they eat, it's no wonder there is an obesity problem! If people would just understand what they are doing to themselves by the food choices that they make. By the way, you are doing a great job with your blog! Keep it up!

Raymond,
Yeah you still need to eat carbs, you just have to watch what kind of carbs you are eating, especially if you are trying to drop weight. The average persons diet consists of so much of the wrong types of carbs and empty calories.

Eat stop eat sure does make things easier though! Intermittent fasting has been one of the best things that I have learned in a very long time. It's something that I will most likely use as a tool to stay lean for the rest of my life.

George,
Thanks. I recently went to Las Vegas with my oldest son who was graduating from College and ate like a maniac. We had a great time and didn't really hold back on food or drink! I came home weighing only three pounds more then when I left and within two weeks was down below where I had started from!

This wouldn't of been possible without eat stop eat. I think it is one of the best tools out there for staying lean and keeping your muscle mass.

Dave,
I am the same way with my diet. I used eat stop eat to get close to where I wanted to be with my weight. Now I am improving my diet to get those last few pounds off. I figure that once I look like I want to look, then I can concentrate on eating better and actually being as healthy as I look!

Kelly,
Great review of insulin. Because I come from a background that includes a poor diet, I've taken things one step at a time. First I incorporate Eat Stop Eat. Then I started eating healthy during the work week allowing myself some sweets at night here and there. Now I'm trying to push a bit further and avoid refined sugars during the week. I'm trying to get to the final step where just about everything I eat is natural. Definitely challenging, but I'm nearing my goal.

So true about calorie deficit being where it's at. Like Raymond, I'm a huge fan of Eat Stop Eat. I like the fact that you can create an ongoing calorie deficit by mixing in really low calorie days, with days of higher calories (Weddings, Holidays, weekends, etc).

This makes so much more sense than following a strict day-to-day diet. I manage to stay lean and keep all my muscle mass by fasting twice per week. Just like Eat Stop Eat teaches. Hopefully you will reach a lot of people with this post...because it truly is an awesome recommendation.

Good Stuff!

keeping all the facts and figures in your head is mind boggling but Eat Stop Eat reduces it down to pretty simple ideas that anyone can use.
Funny thing everyone is scared of Carbs. yes be scared of the wrong carbs but eating the right ones gives your muscles energy, helps them develop and personally I drop body fat down to 8-9 % still eating carbs .. you could only drop carbs completely for only a few weeks at a time without going into ketosis

Spot on!

The state you REALLY want to avoid is hyperinsulinemia, where your insulin is chronically elevated. In contrast to the brief spikes you get after eating, here your body is CONSTANTLY storing fat away.

Hyperinsulinemia goes hand-in-hand with "modern diets" of heavily-processed foods. (Fructose in particular seems to be a prime suspect.) Your advice to eat Real Food is absolutely correct in that it tends to keep insulin levels down. (Good news: you can eat butter, cream, eggs, bacon, red meat and know that it is, indeed, health food now!)

Anyone who really wants to geek out on this stuff should pick up a copy of Good Calories, Bad Calories by Gary Taubes immediately!
