Kelly,

Now this is a really good post, very unusual picture, and topic, but so true.

Humans always seem to gravitate to the quicker least effort way out, without understanding that the journey is what gives us the ability to sustain what we are learning.

I think though it is as much about liking talking about the problem, but not wanting the results enough to go after them, so much so that it becomes a subconscious response. I think if you knew you could achieve something, you'd do it, because there's no barrier there and unfortauntely not knowing if you can often relates to assuming that you can't and therefore not even trying.

Seriously people, give it a try, what's the worst that can happen? You lose weight, get a little fitter? How can that be bad? Set yourself a bunch of easy goals that you think you can achieve, and just keep going...

I absolutely agree with those statements, the only way to fail is to quit, I'd add or not to start.
And if you blindly continue something that isn't working, well, that's the definition of insanity I think?!

I think it's also useful to point out that it would be good to find the things that are working, and replicate that success in other exercises.

Great site man, I keep coming back!

Hey Kelly,
So far so good, for sure. Slow and steady wins the race. I've tried the clean up everything all at once approach and like you said, went back to where I started.

It's extremely important to find a route that works for yourself and to just stick to it. Good job man!

Hey Kelly, I am a big fan of intermittent fasting as it is THE way that worked (and still works) for me to lose fat at the beginning and now to maintain my ideal weight and body fat. I do find that it is more difficult to fast during the colder months because I tend to get cold during a fast. But, other than that, it is by far the easiest, most effective method to lose fat while still gaining strength.

Keep up the great work! I look forward to your updates.

Josh,
40 Days!!! You are a beast! You will do great. I look forward to hearing your results. Keep us all posted. Try cutting your carbs in between fasts, more of a paleo or primal (Mark Sisson) style and you will do even better.

Darrin,
Yeah. It's been a challenge to keep the posts going with everything else in life! I figure this will force me to get more involved. Kenny Powers is hilarious.

Kelly,
You've inspired my wife and I. I've done long fasts (40 days) in the past to loose weight but it's just too difficult. Plus I miss out on a lot of social events during those times just because I don't want to be tempted with good food. We are going to fast Mondays and Thursdays and also watch our portions while eating healthier. Thanks for the emails and encouragement.
